My 'Sorority Girl' Is Showing

While a collegian at the great University of Louisville, I decided to go Greek.  One of the best decisions I ever made.  I’ve made several lifelong friendships and it’s how I met the hubs.  See, if I didn’t express my sorority girl-ness back then, I wouldn’t be doing someone else’s laundry.  Luckiest girl in the world right here!

This past weekend, the alumnae group decided to start a new tradition: Alum vs. Active Flag Football.  If I was at all athletic, I’d had played.  But guess what?  I’m not.  I was forced to play intramural basketball while in college and let’s just say the guys didn’t come to the games because we were awesome.  No.  They came to see me forget to dribble and die on the b-ball court.  I’m scarred for life.  But this football game is so worth the trash talk!!

And in true sorority fashion, we made T-shirts.  We donned our “OLD SCHOOL” tees with pride.  And well, we had to distinguish the women from the girls, right?

Needless to say, all I really did was trash talk.  And I took pictures, of course.  And I ate every chili that was on the table because I could.  They gave me only one spoon but about 10 dixie cups.  I casted my vote but I have no idea who won the chili cook off.  Who won the chili cook off, guys?

As I followed the ball up and down and back up the field, I snapped away.  And caught up with old friends, some of which I hadn’t seen in five or more years.  And I trashed talk some more.  And I ate more chili.

Confession: That was The Touch Down as there were no others from the alumnae.  They played very well for only have a 15 minute practice – somethings never change from college.  But look out, because I think some of these ladies have ideas up their sleeves about next year’s game.  Because there will be a rematch!!

These collegians though – talk about no respect.  Just wait… you’ll be kickin’ it old school before you know what knocked ya on your fanny!  Besides, all the cool kids are doing it.
