Laughter Through Tears

Another photo I happened to over look.  Glad I found it.

My Mel

That’s my Mel.  My Melanie.  The gal formerly known as The Disappointer.  (I told her if she ever went the pro wrestler route, that should be her stage name.)

I took this shot at their “so long, see ya later” party.  She looks happy.  A bit tired.  Maybe even a little sad.  But she’s so purdy.  So doggone purdy.  I’d hoped to take a lot of photos that night.  It didn’t happen.  Guess I really wasn’t in the mood.  But I like this one.  Again, because she’s so purdy.  I think the apron really brings out her eyes.

My friend made it safely to the mitten-shaped state and has even started unpacking and settling in.  Women are excellent adapters.  I’ve held up my end of the bargain: useless facts about Michigan.  This is not to help Melanie learn.  It is to help me cope.  And a good way to mock something without it knowing.  Mocking is really all I’ve done.  The humor makes it easier to miss my friend [that is really only two states away but it feels like ten – WAH!].

“Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion.”  Truvy hit the nail on the head with that one.

Dawn - But Ohio is one of those states and, having driven through it several times, I think it should count as 5 or 6 because there is a LOT of it.

Brooke - @katie: I’ve seen it more times than I can count. I remember watching it with my pal Sam when I was 10. We had a list of movies that were watched regularly like Steel Magnolias, Singing in the Rain, Meet Me In St. Louis and even Beaches. Of course The Goonies, Adventures in Babysitting and The Burbs also made the cut. :)
@Dawn: Sadly yes. Or Indiana – depends on how you look at it.

Melissa - I think this is the sweetest post and picture! best friends are, well, the best. I spent the weekend with mine and after 20 years we don’t even have to talk. but we do! I don’t know how i would survive if she didn’t live in the same state!
