OMG! WE’RE IN A CAR!!

I had a post all planned out about some flowers.  But things can change quickly in these here parts.  The flowers have to wait.

I don’t have any pictures from our Fourth of July party we had this week.  I was busy hosting and making sure everyone had a cold drink in their hand.  I have no idea what the hubs was doing.  But the day after the party, I took some video with Paco.  And thanks to flickr, you get to see it.

The BDD.  She is special.  Very very very very special.

As you know, she is deaf.  She can’t hear lickety split.  She can’t hear the birds sing or the bees buzz [however that does not keep her from trying to catch them].  She can’t hear her masters say her name or call for her or the doorbell ring when her boyfriend comes to visit.  And she can’t hear how bad she sounds.  Lucky duck.

You also know that she doesn’t get out much.  Because she screams with delight about her new found freedom and it’s embarrassing.  Taking a walk on the sidewalk in front of the house sends the neighbors out wondering what in the heck that noise is.  And car rides?  Unbearable.  She’s so damn happy to be along for the ride that she can’t stop barking, yelling, screaming in that tone-deaf doggin voice of hers.  “LOOK THERE’S A TREE!”  “LOOK THERE’S ANOTHER TREE!!”  “A CAR! WITH PEOPLE IN IT!!”  “OMGOMGOMGOMG!!!”

Needless to say, it’s annoying.

So on Monday, the hubs and I went to pick up our doggins from his parents house (large number of people in our house and our dogs don’t mix; they jump in laps and steal food and I don’t have time for that).  Of course, Chevy went ape-shit in my Honda on the three mile ride home.  Thank goodness it’s only three miles.  If it were four, I’d be slipping Benadryl in her puppy chow beforehand.

This, Internet, is only a taste of what we experience in the confined space of the car.  This video is not as loud as she is in real life.  As your eardrums probably won’t vibrate from the sheer pitch of her glee.  But this… this is the BDD in all her glory.  And Chase shaking in her boots [while sitting in my lap].

You’re welcome.

Melanie - This made my morning even better, I haven’t laughed that hard in a while!

Brooke - You miss her, don’t you Melanie? Her big meat paws clambering all over you, her big butt pushing you around, her ignoring everyone when they say “DOWN!”… what’s not to miss?!

Todd Pack - That’s great! She’s so happy. That video really made me smile.

Kevin Newsome - And I thought my dog was the only one who acts like that in a car. Mine is a 65lb Weimarner so I have to block her off in the back of an SUV to take her anywhere. She’s not deaf, but after a trip with her I am. Good stuff.

Dawn - That is one excited puppy, for sure.

Doo Doo - If you listen hard enough and maybe try to place yourself in the dog’s place you might her her say “are we there yet?”
Over and over again.
Just give that pooch a smooch and say to yourself sometimes you have to accept things that life presents you. She was a present wasn’t she? It could be worse!!!
I’m just glad you love that dog.

Wendi @ Bon Appetit Hon - That would be the longest three miles of my life. So funny that the other doggin is sitting serenely while BDD goes nuts.

Wendi - Very sweet. Very deafening and potentially accident-causing, but sweet.

Amy - That was adorable! I know it has to be annoying to live with, but seeing a pup that excited and happy is such a joy. We used to have a siberian husky that howled her fool head off about everything. My husband thought it was annoying (which it was when we were watching tv), but gosh we miss it now.

Brooke - @Amy Our doggins were gone for one hour before the hubs said “It’s too quiet. Maybe we should bring them back home.” We’re suckers for these canines. And our house was unbearably quiet without them for the day. But I least I got my half of the bed that night.

Anamaris - LOL – 2 things. First, BDD actually made Mocha raise her head out of her well deserved beauty sleep. Second, she sounded like a chicken towards the end. And Chase looks embarrassed in the front. Kinda like he’s saying ‘No, I don’t know her’.

Brooke - @Anamaris You’re spot on with Chase – she avoids Chevy when ridiculousness ensues. And every time I play the video (because I get a kick out of it ever time), Chase cocks her head as to say “What? Timmy’s in trouble?!” :)
