We’ll circle back to babies today. The babies I’m photographing, that is. As gifts to my friends who are becoming parents. It’s a weekly event, y’all. Well, it averages out that way.
I have to say that I’m quite proud of the photos I took for my pal Jacqueline and her little Evangeline. (I’m totally calling her Evita because that is one hefty name to type.) The light was superb [which always helps]. And the setting was exactly what I wanted: I chatted with momma while she did her thing and I stuck the kahuna in baby’s face.
It paid off, folks.
And to hear momma say that she was in love with them? Made my day. I was smiling from ear to ear.
Two things I’m definitely learning from these experiences is 1) I need to practice communicating and 2) I’m finally finding the light. Every time I say “You do what you have to do, I’ll shoot around you” something is lost in translation. It could be nerves, it could be excitement but whatever it is, I need to verbalize better. But never fear, my 50mm is near [and it awesome-er than the average bear]. It helps with low light settings of course, but I’ve began to notice my eye is catching shadows. Finally. That only took two years of looking through the view finder to figure out, huh?
So I have a new set of bambino photos to sort through – that Momma and Poppa Bear will be happy to see some of the treasures I’ve captured. You’ll get a gander in a couple weeks… promise.
