Bebita Evita

We’ll circle back to babies today.  The babies I’m photographing, that is.  As gifts to my friends who are becoming parents.  It’s a weekly event, y’all.  Well, it averages out that way.

I have to say that I’m quite proud of the photos I took for my pal Jacqueline and her little Evangeline.  (I’m totally calling her Evita because that is one hefty name to type.)  The light was superb [which always helps].  And the setting was exactly what I wanted: I chatted with momma while she did her thing and I stuck the kahuna in baby’s face.

It paid off, folks.

And to hear momma say that she was in love with them?  Made my day.  I was smiling from ear to ear.

Two things I’m definitely learning from these experiences is 1) I need to practice communicating and 2) I’m finally finding the light.  Every time I say “You do what you have to do, I’ll shoot around you” something is lost in translation.  It could be nerves, it could be excitement but whatever it is, I need to verbalize better.  But never fear, my 50mm is near [and it awesome-er than the average bear].  It helps with low light settings of course, but I’ve began to notice my eye is catching shadows.  Finally.  That only took two years of looking through the view finder to figure out, huh?

So I have a new set of bambino photos to sort through – that Momma and Poppa Bear will be happy to see some of the treasures I’ve captured.  You’ll get a gander in a couple weeks… promise.

J. Smith - Still in love. I literally look through them daily. I used a gift card from another family to design a collage of black and whites which will be displayed most prominently in our home. And all the old people in my life insist they are bettter than allthe studio newborn shoots they have seen.

tattytiara - There are few things more precious you can give a parent than a way to help remember the fleeting, precious time when their kids are young. Beautiful photos indeed.

Brooke - @Jacqueline – I’m so happy to hear that you love them! I’m kind of in love with them too. I can’t wait to work on Malana’s a bit more… and then Maddox will come along. :)

Jan Smith - These are wonderful. I love taking photos of babies. I’ve only done it once but I would love to have a job at a hospital taking photos of newborns.
I’ll be back to visit when I have more time.
I see that you’re from Louisville…my daughter and I will be coming there in October for the “So You Think You Can Dance” Tour. We’re excited!
