I Have A Camera?

Since the weekly photo challenge has come to an end, I have barely picked up my kahuna.  Like maybe four times in three weeks.  And to be completely honest… don’t hate me now… I haven’t missed it. *gasp*  I know, I know but it’s much more than just taking photos – it’s the uploading, the sorting, all the stuff I need feel like I have to do and I just haven’t felt like it.  Sue me.

I knew this would happen.  And this is why I’m taking a break before starting another year-long venture with the kahuna.  Smart cookie, that’s me.  My brain has taken a vacation without the kahuna.  Who knew this could happen?  I didn’t.  But my thoughts have been on everything but photography.

Like I decided to dismantle our guest room and turn it into a craft room.  The extra bed had only been used a handful of times so I went ahead and killed it.  I used to have a craft room in Indy and then we moved home and then the hubs decided to take over the basement and my craft room has been dead for at least two years.  A couple weeks of chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth and BAM! I’ve resuscitated myself a new space.  To craft in.  It’s not finished [thanks to someone for not removing the mattresses… you know who you are] but soon enough it will be mine, all mine. *muwahahaha*

I’ve also picked up my knitting and I’m back with my Mom’s knitting circle.  And I’ve discovered some new blogs that have all kinds of delicious tutorials that I want to try.  I’ve been drooling over sewing machines and I don’t even know how to sew.  It might not be what you expected but it’s true:

My name is Brooke and I’m a crafter.

And I’ve missed it.

But amidst all the glue guns, scrapbook paper and embossing powder I’ve realized something.  Something important.  Very important…

I can’t blog without pictures.

I just can’t.  I wish I had a photo to pop up there right now but I don’t.  Nothing relevant at least so what’s the point?  My words mean nothing without a visual context.  I NEED VISUALS, PEOPLE!

OK, that may be a tad bit over the top but I’m sure you get my drift.

I’ve gotten used to looking to my photography for inspiration.  And when I’ve opened up my Flickr photostream the last few days, there was nothing new, nothing inspiring.  So I sat down with some baby shots and went to town and whaddaya know – it worked.  *inspired*  So inspired, in fact, that I’ve given myself a mini-venture with the kahuna.  Mini as in little, the smallest side project to keep me on my toes, to help me find my creative eye and to help me find the words to share on le  blog.

Believe me folks, it’s better this way.  I’m a chump without my kahuna.

I think we all know this and just aren’t saying it.  You guys are too kind.  *hug*

Debbie - I miss your photos, too! We creative types just have to create, don’t we? So get busy, whip up some colorful crafts (in whatever medium you choose), point your camera at ’em, and let us enjoy!

Wendi @ Bon Appetit Hon - Boo, do what feels right to you. That’s been my lesson this summer. Be true to you and get your crafty on! Wish there was space in my house to conquer for crafting.

denise:) - I’m with you! I feel your pain. It is what it is… i wish the whole upload/process/post was faster. But I’ll read whatever you write, pics or not! d;)

katie o. - I’m totally with you. For me, I can’t blog without pictures either. Guess we’re just visual people. So, what’s this side project??

Brooke - @Debbie – Oh yes… I just haven’t actually “made” anything yet. :)
@Wendipants – Wise words, Obiwon.
@denise – Ya know, I enjoy the process but I get tired of it. Like cooking – sometimes I do just want a frozen pizza.
@katie – Let me get a few days under my belt to see if I can keep it up.
