Monday Mornin’ Maddox

Maddox Mosaic

Meet Maddox.  I met him at the beginning of the month.  I didn’t finish going through his photos until yesterday.  You can classify me as a slacker.  Yes… yes you can.

Another beautiful friend with yet another beautiful baby.  Spending time with all these women and seeing them with their new bambinos curled up against them has been quite the experience.  Hearing them talk with them has been beyond adorable.  But when I visited Michelle and Maddox… it’s something different.  Something special.

Michelle.  She’s incredibly funny, always smiling and has the most beautiful voice.  This girl can sing.  In college, I remember we pushed her to try out for American Idol.  Lucky for Kelly Clarkson, that didn’t happen.  And lucky for us, we got to keep that beautiful voice nearby.  So I shouldn’t have been caught off guard when I visited.  But I was.

When Maddox started fussing up, his momma took him downstairs to the iPod.  She cradled him in her arms and sang to him.  And his three-week-old eyes just stared up into hers.  In Brooke fashion, I was poised with the camera but the light wasn’t great so I backed up and just watched.  This was special – something I hadn’t seen with my other friends – and I had to wipe a tear away before Michelle caught me and made fun of me.

It’s been an honor photographing my friends with their new bundles.  They fit the bill quite nicely.

Being mommas, that is.

Brooke - Oh Katie, aren’t you clever… and that would be a big fat negative, sweetheart. I’m just a softy. I’m prone to cry at least six times during Steel Magnolias. It’s who I am.
