Ten Facts About Mel & Thurmeo

(I couldn’t wait any more.  Sue me.)

Fact #1: Mel and I are sorority sisters.  I remember the first day we met.  Our friend Nicole was there too.  And she was jumping around like a spider monkey, hugging on me and Melanie screaming, “We’re sisters!  We’re sisters!”  It’s amazing how some people stay with you for years.

Fact #2: Mel and Thurmeo are college sweethearts.  They’ve been together since 2001 [if I’m not mistaken].  I don’t have too many college memories without these two in them.

Fact #3: I’ve known Thurmeo since I was 14.  We had math class together in high school.  He was a dork.  He still is.  And he’s still really good at math.

Fact #4: Thurmeo and I went to the senior prom together.  He didn’t tell me I looked nice that night.  I haven’t let him live it down.  Ever since then, he’s told me I look beautiful every time we see each other.  I remind him it doesn’t count.

Fact #5: Once they were engaged, Thurmeo’s grandmother decided it was time to take down the picture of him and his prom date from the refrigerator.  Mel told her she could leave it up… because we were friends.

Fact #6: Their wedding… was one… of the best weddings ever.  It’s in my Top 5.  Yes, I have a Top 5 List of Weddings.  When you’ve been to as many as we have, you start ranking them.  Please tell me I’m not the only one that does this.

Fact #7: They’re opposites in so many ways but totally made for one another.  I love that two people that mean so much to me found one another and are starting a family.  I also love that Mel does an excellent impersonation of Thurmeo.

Fact #8: Thurmeo talks to Mel’s belly.  It’s too cute for words.  But we all knew he’d be a wonderful Poppa.  And she a wonderful Momma.

MR-S (10)

Fact #9: They moved far, far away.  I have the sick feeling memorized of the moment that Mel told me they were moving to Michigan.  It breaks my heart every time I think about it.  So I try not to think about it.  Ever.  To me, they still live only a few miles down the road.

Fact #10: But I also know how I feel when they announce they’re coming home.  And I love that feeling.
