Week 7: Fear

Twice now I’ve gotten super excited about the weekly subject and tons of ideas of how to create it.  Twice now I’ve been too lazy to follow through.  And twice now I’ve asked for fabulous co-workers to help a sister out.  And that is why they’re fabulous – they help me out.  Man, I dig the people I work with.

The idea I had for the shot I did take came to me on Sunday.  It’s the last words written on my idea list.  And with how much uncertainty hovers around the news, the economy and the conversations I’ve had with friends, it definitely is a fear.

Here is my fear:

Week 7: Fear

The fear of being broke.  Having no money.  Worrying about how to buy groceries for the next week.

I’m so grateful that I haven’t had to face an issue like this.  But so many people I know have lost jobs, can’t find new ones, have moved away just to get a loaf of bread on the table and new shoes on their kids’ feet.  My parents didn’t have it easy back in the day but they always made sure we were taken care of.  We had homemade dinners (or left overs) every night and splurged on Pizza Hut on Saturday nights.  We didn’t take family vacations, they didn’t drive new cars, and my DAd pulled 2nd and 3rd shifts.  But we were together.  And being together, being happy is what matters most.

There are so many different fears out there – you should definitely visit the WPC Flickr Group to see what the other challengers came up with this week.    And there’s the Challenger Roll.  I did some house cleaning on the roll so that only those posting to the group are linked up.  If you haven’t been nosy enough to poke around, you should.  There’s some great blogs out there.

For week 8… let me bring up the random number generator…  our subject will be… WHITE.  Have fun with the color challenge.  If you have warm weather, venture out with your camera.  I know I will.  Happy snapping!

katie o. - Love your take on fear. No doubt it resonates with so very many of us. And the shot is great. ps. this makes me feel better (your family story) as Ash and I are heading into what’s going to be the most poverty stricken times of our lives. It really is all about being happy. Together.

Whitney - I was not as enthusiastic about this weeks theme as you were! I procrastinated as well . . . but what matters is that we got it done!!
