I Have No Photos So…

… so today will be listatic.  You know you love it.

  • I’m sad to report that my debit card was raped at the gas pump this morning.  To fill up my car it cost me $44.14.  I’ve never broke the $40 barrier for a fill up, even when the gas light was glowing and my Honda was running on fumes.  Fortunately, this tank will last me two weeks.  I don’t know how people that drive SUVs and trucks do it.
  • I allowed Poptarts to come back into my life and it was a huge mistake.  HUGE.  So frickin yummy but all I want is Poptarts and after the box is empty I’m totally banishing them from the house again.  Learn from me – don’t do what I did, kids.
  • I took lead from my pal Martha and oven-baked bacon.  And it wasn’t bad.  It was actually pretty good.  It cooked evenly, it didn’t curl up too much and clean up was a breeze.  The best part is that I didn’t ruin a fourth shirt with grease spatter.  I will be doing this again.
  • Oven-baked bacon: single layer of slices on a parchment lined baking sheet at 350 for 25 minutes.
  • I’ve parted ways with my ultra-wide lens so to celebrate, I started researching new prime lenses.  I figured since I was so in love with my 50mm but it’s sometimes too zoomy, I shopped the 28mm f/1.8 and f/2.8, the 35mm f/2.0 and even the Sigma 30mm f/1.4.  I bought one.  But I’m not telling which just yet.
  • And a neutral density filter somehow made its way into my shopping cart.  It should be an interesting, inexpensive toy to play with.
  • I have absolute no idea, no flippin idea at all, what I’m going to shoot for “mess” this week.  Zero notes on my idea board.  It isn’t looking promising, people.
  • I have so many cute pictures of Mel and her baby but it’s taking me forever to sort and edit.  I have too many projects going on right now.  Which is why I don’t have any new photos to share with you.  You have to trust me when I say I’m not a slacker.
  • If I had a dollar for every time a girlfriend of mine says to me “We’re expecting!”, I could have bought myself a new camera bag by now.  I nice camera bag at that.
  • I want a new camera bag.  But I think I’m breaking up with Lola.  A new little  green number caught my eye.  Of course, I haven’t asked her to be mine yet – I’m only at the wooing stages right now.
  • My knitting is game on now!  I was working on an infinity scarf and it’s soooo cute and soooo squishy and soooo warm but the pattern was drowning my happiness.  And killing my hands.  Seed stitching can do that to a gal.  But I just started another hat and I’m pretty stoked about it.  Shh… it’s a surprise.
  • I need the weekend like nobody’s business.  Too bad I have to spend part of it at the DMV getting my new almost-30-years-old license made.

Wendi @ Bon Appetit Hon - Brooke, step away from the poptarts. Seriously.
You broke up with a lens? Pour quoi? And why do I always type lens as lense?

Victoria - Pop tarts, bad. New lens, good.
Cheaply priced frying spatter screen helps with those ruined shirts. Just sayin’.
Have a good weekend :)

J. Smith - 1. Yesterday I filled up my phaeton. The gas light had JUST come on, meaning there was barely under 1/4 of a tank. It was $77. It will last MAYBE 2 weeks if I’m driving Miss Daisy and don’t get caught in any nasty traffic. It’s not a truck or an SUV. Just a big-@$$ V8 sedan with a huge gas tank. Sucks.
2. I cook bacon in the microwave. I have a nifty tray. It’s because I can’t stand grease. One of the few fights Duncan and I have had during marriage has been related to bacon grease spray left all over the stove.
3. Pop Tarts, you just have to step away. They will suck you in and then you will forget that there are other things — healthier things — that can be consumed.

André - Shutterboo… gas at that price, for me as an european… is a bargain.

I fill up my Mini’s tank every 2 weeks for about 62€… thats around $87… My car it’s not very economical in european standards, but it doesn’t have a v6 or v8…

Brooke - @Wendipants – I KNOW! I went on a huge sweet kick last week and I’m paying for it this week.
@Victoria – I’ve never used one. But I have a feeling if I did, I’d still end up ruining a shirt.
@Jac – I have a microwave tray myself but it isn’t the same… and my bacon has to be perfect.
@Andre – I always forget that the gas prices are higher in Europe. Sticker shock in Germany… but I was so slow at the conversion that the shock came slow.
