She Does Exist!

I’ve become friends with many a blog folks via the interweb thanks to this little blog.  But as far as I was concerned, until I was given undoubted proof that a bloggy buddy did in fact exist, I was to remain skeptical.  Photos can be convincing and care packages can make the Believe-o-Meter creep up.  But I marked one blogger off the “can we be sure?” list because I got to spend time with her yesterday.

Yes indeedy.  I got to meet Wendi of Bon Appetit Hon in the flesh.

Bloggy buddy proof provided.  She does exist.

Me & WendipantsOur poor hair… the drizzle just took things from fab to “where’s my blow dryer?”

It just happened that she won a giveaway that included a trip to Louisville to cook in the GE Monogram Kitchen.  So we took advantage of her little trip to the Derby City and had a face to face.  Of course, food was involved.  We hit up The Holy Grale, a new tavern in town that actually occupies an old church.  And Wendi had her first experience with benedictine.  On a waffle.  I think the verdict may still be out.

I wish it hadn’t been spitting rain because a couple photo walks could have been fun.  But the weather was just icky enough to keep us in the car as I drove her through our lovely little city.  I hope I didn’t scare her with my mad driving skills and ability to get lost easily.

I’ve read Wendi’s words without her voice for quite a while now.  And what was cool about our meet up is that I  could actually see and hear how much of her personality comes through her writing.  It’s interesting how you can peg someone and not be surprised by the stories they tell when you’re sharing a meal.

Despite the rainy weather we’ve been dealt this week, I do hope that the rest of Wendi’s time in Louisville is great.  I can’t wait to hear about the GE Experience, her day at the Downs and any insight she can share about the mommy blogger psyche.  Make the best of it, take loads of pictures and relax before you have to head back to your real life.  Have fun, my friend!

Bro - Well, that is just cool.

J. Smith - Yay! (And I want very much to try the Holy Grale. I hear good things, although I’m not sure anyone could make benedictine on a waffle sound appetizing to me)

Brooke - I thought the same thing when she ordered it but kept my trap closed. She didn’t know it was cucumber spread. I still remember as child thinking they served toothpaste sandwiches… but luckily, HG’s wasn’t bright mint green.

Becki D - BLOGGY BUDDY!!! I’ve been away from the interwebs far too long, I see!

When the heck did you get the new blog, eh?! Beeeautiful! Love what you’ve done with the place!

And getting for real about the photography too….awesome awesome awesome!

omawarisan - That is so cool! I’m happy you both took the chance to get to know one another.

Wendi @ Bon Appetit Hon - Brooke, in my defense all that registered was waffle and bacon. Benedictine? I thought that meant it maybe was blessed by a monk or something. Had I known it was cucumber spread I might have opted for those sliders.

Having you say that my “voice” in real life is the same as on the blog is a huge compliment. But it could also mean that I sound as crazy when I open my mouth as I do when I talk to myself. Sitting at the table with you, it felt like we’d known each other forever. Like we could have even been bff’s in college…except for that whole me being 10 years older thing.

Brooke - Sorry, I should have intervened with the ‘tine. It was a fun time. I really wish we could have spent more time together. I believe that if a bottle of wine had been polished off, a fantastic game of Truth-or-Dare could have unfolded. Age difference is pishposh. Next time… :)
