My photo this week needs explaining. It also shows you how crafty I can be. Or how bizarre I can be. Or wicked cool.
Some see the glass half full, others see if half empty. Tomayto. Tomahto.
Here is my lines:
The first thing you need to know is that I’m very good at keeping myself entertained. Armed with paper, sharpies, colored pencils and a glue stick, I can stay put for quite some time. I may even giggle at myself. Because I think I’m funny. You might think this is weird. I already know it.
The second thing you need to know is I work in a pod. Most offices have those old, boring square cubicles. Not us. We have round work spaces we call pods. And these pods have walkways through them. Um… I don’t know how else to describe it other than circle-like. You can peek at my desk if you want a visual.
The third [and most important] thing you need to know is the back story. I work with very clever people. Thankfully, they make work better. The morning in question, a fabulous co-worker referred to her work life as “pod life.” She then proceeded to photoshop out “THUG” and replace it with “POD” on Tupac Shakur’s six-pack. I was instantly inspired. I had to make us four-knuckle-bling-rings like my life depended on it. So I got to work. Those up there are my four-knuckle-bling-rings. (Yes, I took a picture of us together.)
Paper. Sharpie. One yellow pencil. And a glue stick. Oh-so-many giggles.
My “lines” are in my four-knuckle-bling-rings. When I draw, I’ve always created shadows or fill in spaces with lines. Horizontal lines, vertical lines, diagonal lines, the occasional crosshatch. I never realized it until a former art classmate did his with figure eights. I thought it was odd but only then did I see that I preferred lines. So not only are four-knuckle-bling-rings hilarious but they help out in the WPC. (I could so make up rap lyrics right now.)
For Week 33 we’ll be searching for URBAN. I smell a photo walk… can’t wait to see what you capture!
