I’ve gotten into the habit of asking questions before and during sessions. About the people who are present, their relationships and personalities… and although it might feel like a game of Twenty Questions, I really enjoy it. I get a peek at how they perceive one another and the world around them. So when I asked Ria a load of questions to get to know her family better, there was one answer that stuck with me.
“Ten years from now, I will celebrate a 16 year marriage and have a teenage daughter. I want us to be able to look back and remember how we made a new start and came home. While we made a very big life change, we were still pushing forward with the bigger picture in mind.”
Ria and Adam shared how they had just left Florida to come back to Louisville, that it was their first autumn in years, the first time that their daughter, Adeline, was able to experience seasons. I was thrilled to be able to meet them and photograph them when “home” is filled with warm colors and beautiful. And I hope that ten years from now, she can sit down with her husband and daughter and smile at the photographs we took that day.
But mom wasn’t left out of the love.
