It’s Tuesday

As you know, I like lists.  And every other Tuesday for some time, I’ve posted a list.  Just of random things that are happening around me, to me, because of me… but this Tuesday is different because it has nothing to do with me.  It has to do with us.

Ask anyone what they were doing between 8:46a and 9a on September 11, 2001 – they’ll know where they were, who they were with, probably even what they were wearing.  But most importantly, they’ll remember exactly how they felt.  I can tell you those things.  The stunned feeling in my body, not really understanding the repercussions of what had happened.  But even 11 years later, my chest still gets heavy and my heart breaks all over again.

It’s about us.  About our country and what we believe in and stand for.  It’s about our camaraderie and our willingness to  help our neighbors.  No list today.  Because we don’t need a list to remember.

katie - It completely escaped me that today was 9/11 until I was driving into work, turned the radio station, and all of a sudden heard a montage of clips from that morning. 11 years later and I still choke up when I hear it. Nothing will ever make that feeling go away.
The images you’ve shared are beautiful because it reminds us how special those people are and how important their memories are to those who loved them. Thank you for that.
