WPC {2011}

I’m not hosting a 2012 Weekly Photo Challenge, but I encourage those who are wanting to learn and experiment with photography to join one or create their own.  Taking one photo a week doesn’t sound like much, but the personal challenge and thinking creatively is what makes it fun.  Feel free to use my list, or even make your own, and invite others to join you – the people I’ve met along the way have been the best part!  Good luck in 2012!!

A NEW weekly photo challenge with NEW subjects to follow the NEW calendar year: 2011.  You’re excited, aren’t you?  I can totally tell.  I’m somewhat tickled pink myself.  So here’s the skinny:

1.  This is a weekly photo challenge.  Below is a list of 52 photography subjects.  Each week, a new subject will be selected at random (announced here and on the flickr group) and will be due the following week.  I like to post on Wednesdays.  So I will.

First photo due Wednesday, January 5, 2011.

2.  Anyone can participate.  All that you need is a camera.  Be it a point-and-shoot, a dSLR or even a smart phone.  Most of us are hobbyist and just love sharing photography [and snooping around other people's photos].

3.  Remember, this is only a challenge.  This is not a competition and there is no prize – only a personal challenge.  But I do encourage you to take the photo that week.  Using photos from your archives defeats the purpose of challenging yourself as a photographer.

4.  Join the flickr group and post your photos.  It was a breath of fresh air to see how strangers left positive feedback and encouraged one another.  Makes me happy and gives me hope.

5.  Have fun.  Push yourself.  Break out of your creative boundaries.  Think outside of the box.
